As a result of Oracle’s acquisition of PeopleSoft, Oracle has announced Project Fusion. Project Fusion is described as an
evolutionary path that provides a smooth, cost-effective upgrade strategy no matter which application's product line a customer is running.
Project Fusion is depicted as a "path" because some of the technologies for project are here today, eg. Fusion Middleware, while other technologies, such as the Fusion applications, will be released in the future. These applications will be the
integrated versions of the Oracle, PeopleSoft, and JDEdwards product lines.
Oracle Fusion Middleware for PeopleSoft Enterprise is offered today and has been certified starting with PeopleTools 8.46 and 8.47.
This technology is a comprehensive set of standards-based middleware components which leverages the benefits of Service-Oriented
Architecture to provide a comprehensive technology foundation. It is made up of the following components:
- Oracle Portal and Single Sign-On
- Oracle BPEL Process Manager
- Oracle Integration B2B
- Oracle BAM
- Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer
- Oracle Application Server Web Cache
PeopleTools 8.47, an Oracle Application Server Java Edition is packaged. It provides a core Java development, runtime, and management
environment. With this PeopleTools version, customers can also choose to use Oracle Application Server 10G as a replacement for their
existing Web Application Server.
Oracle recommends that existing customers should be on the latest releases of Oracle’s products (Oracle E-Business Suite 11i.10,
PeopleSoft Enterprise 8.9, JDEdwards EnterpriseOne 8.11) to take advantage of the latest enhancements and to provide a direct upgrade
path to the future Fusion applications. Empower Solutions can support your organization with any application or PeopleTools upgrades
necessary in order to prepare it for a successful future.
Empower Solutions has the experience and knowledge to assess your specific needs and to communicate your options for integrating these
new technologies into your existing applications environment.
